If we believe Boing Boing and local California news, Philip Marshall was a “conspiracy theorist” who killed his teenage son and daughter, the family dog, and then himself.
“The alleged assailant was the teens’ father, Philip Marshall, 54, a commercial pilot and author, according to the Calaveras County Sheriff’s office,” The Union Democrat reported on Monday. “Philip Marshall appeared to be well-respected in the community” and people interviewed by the Murphys, California, newspaper found it difficult to believe Marshall would murder his family and the commit suicide.
Xeni Jardin, writing for Boing Boing, dwells on Marshall’s books, The Big Bamboozle and False Flag 911: How Bush, Cheney and the Saudis Created the Post-911 World, and attempts to leave the impression Marshall’s alleged murder-suicide rampage had something to do with 9/11 conspiracy theories, an area of research increasingly viewed by establishment health authorities as a form of mental illness.
